âIt is a curious situation that the sea, from which life first arose, should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life. But the sea, though changed in a sinister way, will continue to exist:
the threat is rather to life itself.ââRachel Carson, Marine Biologistâ (236) 308-9838
On a Mission
Blue Ocean Environmental is on a mission to reduce the very real threat to the oceans that marine biologist Rachel Carson refers to.
We're promoting responsible progress with solutions that respect the environment.
The water off the coast of Alang, India is not naturally this color. The brown sludge you see is a toxic cocktail of oil, fuel and other chemicals spilling into the ocean from crude ship breaking practices. Pollution of this magnitude kills sea life, destroys fishing economies, and diminishes the sea's capacity to produce food suitable for human consumption.
If we don't stop what we're doing to the oceans, more people will die. That's a fact.
What We’re Doing About It, and How You Can Help
Weâre already hackle fly to provide human food to markets overseas. And now, weâre developing a program to remove abandoned and derelict vessels from the ocean and recycle them responsibly.
